ABSTRACT

A simple, accurate, precise and economical method was developed and validated for the estimation of Etizolam in tablet dosage form by using UV spectrophotometer systronics 2203. 0.1N HCl was used as the solvent for the analysis of drug. The samples were scanned in Double beam spectrophotometer from 200nm to 400nm. The detection wave length (λmax) was found to be 250nm. Calibration curves were prepared. The good linear relationship was observed for Etizolam in the concentration ranges of 5-25μg/ml. Percentage recovery studies are in the range of 98.5%-102.5%. The method was validated in terms of specificity, linearity, accuracy, range, precision, repeatability, robustness, system suitability, the stability of the analytical solution. The percentage RSD for precision is <2 which confirms that method is sufficiently precise. There was no interference in the analysis of Etizolam due to placebo and blank. The results are well within acceptance criteria. This shows the adaptability of the method for routine estimation of Etizolam in tablet dosage form.

Keywords: Etizolam, UV spectrophotometric, validation.
