Abstract

A MINI REVIEW ON CALAMINE LOTION

ABSTRACT

Calamine lotion is a topical product which helps in the treatment of itching and irritation. It is also used as a moisturizer. This lotion is widely used as an antiseptic and as a protective for its cooling and soothing effect in various skin disorders. Calamine lotion is a liquid preparation meant for external use only. It is applied on the skin as a cream or a lotion. Application of the topical over the counter skin care products such as calamine helps to absorb the weeping of the skin and helps in early recovery of skin. This lotion is a combination of the zinc oxide and a ferric oxide; it is formulated with the additional ingredients like the phenol and calcium hydroxide.
