ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology has transformed all aspects of health including the dentistry. Nano dentistry is the science of producing functional materials and technology of diagnosing, treating and preventing oral and dental diseases, relieving pain, preserving and improving dental health using nano structures in range of 0.1 nm to 100 nm. The important contribution of nanotechnology to dentistry are the variety of dental products available that rely on nanoscale properties, ranging from implants to oral hygiene products. The field of nanotechnology has tremendous potential, which if harnessed efficiently, can create a more dentist friendly atmosphere. It can bring out significant benefits to the human society by spreading awareness among patients and Making them understand the Developments in the field and options available in the treatment. In future there will be an era of dentistry in which every equipment and devices used in various dental procedure will be based on nanotechnology. This article reviews the recent advances in nanotechnology could help in bringing a paradigm shift in dental field.
