Abstract

SYNTHESIS CHARACTERIZATION AND QUANTIFICATION OF PROCESS RELATED QUINOLONE IMPURITY IN OFLOXACIN BULK

Gharmalkar Samruddhi K.* and Prof. A. L. Ware

ABSTRACT

The present research work deals with synthesis, characterization and quantitation of process related impurities of Ofloxacin. The Impurities was synthesis by Skraup Synthesis method. The synthesis impurity was characterized by analysis such as UV. In UV method 0.1N HCL was used a solvent and from 2-10ug/ml conc. were done. For quantitation analysis RP-HPLC method was developed. In this method mobile phase was taken as (Acetonitrile: Methanol) ration was taken (80: 20 v/v). The RP-HPLC method was found to be linear, precise, rugged, robust & accurate. The amount of impurity present in bulk was found within limit.

Keywords: Impurity, Ofloxacin, UV Spectroscopy, RP-HPLC.
