EFFECT OF ARIPIPRAZOLE FOR AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

ABSTRACT

Aripiprazole is associated with several intellectual or emotional disabilities. Little evidence exists to support association with specific environmental exposure. Recently there are two novel drugs approved by FDA for treating irritability in autistic population. Aripiprazole is a second generation antipsychotic drug. It has been noted that the probability of causing weight gain is lower rate in aripiprazole than other atypical antipsychotics. It is approved by FDA for the use of upto 15 mg/day for both autistic children and adolescents.
