The powder was poured in 1 liters of petroleum ether for 48hrs, it is important for removal of fatty acid and oils. Then the coarse powder was successively extracted with Distilled water (extract 1) and Ethanol: Water (1:1) (extract 2) by soxhlation (Soxhelt apparatus). Various chemical test of leaves showed that glycoside, alkaloids, carbohydrates, phenols, amino acid and saponins. The phytochemical screening of extract was done by Column Chromatography. The antioxidant potential of plant Carissa carandusleaves extracted with different polarity base solvents was assessed.
