Abstract

ATISAR A GASTROINTESTINAL DISEASE A REVIEW BASED ON THE AYURVEDA AUSHADHA YOGA

ABSTRACT

The Gastro intestinal system includes the various organs of the human digestive tract from the mouth to the anal opening, plus the liver, pancreas and gallbladder. Atisara is a gastrointestinal disorder characterized by excessive flow of watery stool through anus. Ayurveda considers that the dysfunction of Agni is responsible for indigestion which produces various diseases functional and structural defects in the gastro-intestinal tract. Atisara chikitsa is planned after seeing the sama and nirama avasta of the dosha. Therapies which are mainly of deepana, pachana and langhana should be adopted in the aam avasta of the disease. In the niramavasta, the drugs which have stambhana properties are to be selected. The aim of this paper is to study atisar and its aushadha yogas. According to bhaishjyaratnawali kutjarishta is among one of the aushadha yoga which act on gastrointestinal disorders.
