Abstract

STUDIES ON THE PHYSIO-CHEMICAL PARAMETERS, MICROBIAL KILL EFFECT (IC50) AND VALIDATION OF ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN VIPRO™, A POLYHERBAL FORMULATION

ABSTRACT

VIPRO™ is a unique poly herbal formulation developed by simple but powerful day to day herbs and spices widely used as home remedy against cough, flu and fever in India. The aqueous extract of 10 herbs is proven independently through scientific studies for various actions such as antioxidant, anti-microbial, expectorant and immune booster. This research article highlights the physio chemical parameters performed using standard protocols of Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia and also validates the active ingredients presence of the 10 ingredients using standards of HPLC. The formulation is studied for microbial kill percentage effect with time (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Shigella flexneri, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Micrococcus luteus and Aspergillus niger) and the results proves to be efficient in killing various microorganisms.
