Abstract

PREVENTIVE AND PROMOTIVE HEALTHCARE ASPECT OF DINCHARYA ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA

ABSTRACT

From the time immemorial, man has been interested in trying to control disease. Long and healthy life is the basic need of human being to attain the dharma, artha, kama and moksha i.e. the Chaturvarga. Disease or ill health is the main impediment to achieve this goal. The need of Ayurveda are to promote and preserve health of the healthy person and to restore health when it is impair. According to Ayurveda, these determining factors are dincharya, ratricharya, ritucharya and sadvritta etc. The regimen which is followed in daily life and also practised continuously day by day is called dincharya. The term ‘Lifestyle’ denotes ‘the way people live’. The practice of wholesome Aahara (diet) and wholesome Vihara (regimen) and behaviour, which practiced daily and which are meant for the well-being in the present and future life (Ubhaya loka hitta) is regarded as dincharya. In this paper classified the preventive and promotive healthcare concepts through Dincharya.
