Methods: Randomised control trial of 100 patients(50) in each group were carried out. Patients were allotted dressing with help of random number table. Patients above 14 years age and also diabetic ulcers were included. Critically ill, Osteomyelitis, Malignancy were excluded. Patients were dressed with Magnesium sulphate, vinegar, saline soaked gauze in conventional group. Collagen pad of 5*5cm or collagen granule soaked gauze was used in other group. Study was carried out between December 2018 to September 2020 at District Hospital, Kolar. After taking thorough history and physical examination patients were evaluated with CBC, RBS, Serum albumin, Pus for culture & sensitivity, X-Ray foot to r/o osteomyelitis. Variables studied in this study were Age, Gender, Site, requirement of debridement of ulcer, Duration of hospital stay, Wound size, number of dressings required, ulcer healing time, Duration of antibiotic therapy, Pain Scale, Any Systemic illness, culture findings at admission, Type of discharge, Follow up period. Results: Results of this study indicated, Collagen dressings causes faster healing, required less number of dressings, less infection rate and better reduction of size of ulcers with less complications and better compliance.
