Abstract

CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF ASTANINDITAPURUSHA

Dr. Priya Padmanabhan* and Dr. Abhinandan A. Muke

ABSTRACT

Astaninditha purusha refers to those people who are generally considered as socially unacceptable because of their peculiar characteristics.[1] However, it is more than a social stigma due various systemic disorders that may crop up and may be a life-threatening condition in many situations. This is because of the fact that the endocrine system may be affected as the western medicine study has proved. Symptomatology of all the eight disorders clearly suggests that they are invariably related to one or the other endocrine disorders. Acharya Charaka has vividly explained sthoulya and karshya as an illustration. And this is a guideline for other disorders to study.

Keywords: Atideergha, Atihrasva, Acromegaly, Gigantism, Obesity.
