ABSTRACT

Agada Tantra is one among the eight branches of Ayurveda which mainly deals with the bites of snake, spider, scorpion, rats and other insects. Acharya Sushruta in kalpasthana while explaining the chikitsa for snake bite gives the information about vamshatwagadi agada which contains twelve ingredients, and its application in bites, several eye disorders and in obstruction of vata. Since this formulation is applied in different techniques, it is said to be sarvakarmika agada i.e., it can be administered for external application, internal administration, collyrium, etc.
