ABSTRACT

Cosmetics have been used since from the ancient time for the beatification of skin. Skin aging, wrinkling, tanning, dryness of skin, erythema, Sunburn and skin cancer are the skin disorder causes due to UV radiation and environmental air pollutants. Many skin care cosmetics are available in the Market which Contain synthetic agent or Chemicals which causes allergic reactions like photo irritation, contact dermatitis, blockage of pores, acne, systemic and local toxicity. From last decade there is tremendous growth in herbal cosmetic market. Demand of herbal cosmetics products are increasing day by day because comparatively they are safe. Herbal cosmetics are not just used for beautification but used for different skin disorder, improve the functioning or texture of the skin, cell rejuvenating function, by eradicating harmful effects of free radicals and making the skin healthier. Various herbs, fruits, teas, oils, and vegetables are used as skin protective agent mainly they contain polyphenols, flavonoids, anthocyanidin, proanthocyanidin, tannins and vitamins which are mostly antioxidant they have the ability to scavenge free radicals and have a protective effect from harmful UV radiation and air pollutant. Instability, solubilization and low penetration of phytoconstituents are major hurdle in the development of herbal skin care cosmetics. Novel vesicular carrier system is the best solution to increase the efficacy and delivery of herbal drug to the targeted site. Combination of novel drug delivery with transdermal route used for fast and targeted drug delivery of drug in various health challenges like skin diseases, allergies, diabetes, cancer, skin burn etc. A novel approach of skin care cosmetics from traditional cosmetic formulation extended beyond their photo protection and sunburn effect to the antiaging, antipollution, antioxidant through the novel drug delivery system. Natural skin care with antioxidant is the best combination nowadays using in skincare products by using various novel carrier system. This review focus on the advantages of natural phytochemicals, antioxidants and different novel vesicular system used in skin care preparation.
