A CRITICAL REVIEW ON VANGA & ITS PHARMACEUTICO-THERAPEUTICAL ATTRIBUTES IN RASA SHASTRA

ABSTRACT
Ayurveda is a wide-ranging system of health care of enormous antiquity, based on experiential knowledge and endowed with compendia of Indian wisdom called Vedas. Considering health of an individual as dynamic integration of environment, body, mind and spirit, Ayurveda lays great emphasis on preservation and promotion of health and preventing the occurrence of disease. The branch of Rasa Shastra gives an extensive approach of herbal as well as mineral compounds along with processing, making Bhasma form and various methods of consumptions etc. Rasa Aushadhis & Dhatu Bhasma considered being more potent than herbal compounds. Various Samhitas and Rasa Shastra literature along with internet portals were searched for the present review article. A vast description of different processing including Shodhana, Marana, Jarana etc. has been found in relation to Vanga Bhasma since the antique period. Thus there is inevitability to make exploit of all the properties of Vanga Bhasma in wide spectrum of diseases.
