Abstract

NIOSOME A NOVEL DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT

Conventional drug dosage forms are not able to meet properties such as controlled delivery of API and its targeted delivery vesicular novel drug delivery systems such as liposome, micro particles, nanoparticles and niosomes are developed to meet these properties. Niosomes bilayered surfactant vesicles are used to deliver the amphiphillic and lipophillic drugs. It protects the drug from rapid degradation or clearance and there by enhances the drug concentration in target tissues. The present review article of niosomes describes the basic fundamentals, preparation methods, characterization and recent applications of the niosomes.
