WOUND HEALING AND ANTI-MICROBIAL PROPERTIES OF INGREDIENTS OF KAKUBHADI CHURNA – A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Introduction: In Ayurveda, Churna is the simplest form of medicine which is prepared by pounding the herbal drugs to get a fine powder which can be used internally as well as externally. Many churna are mentioned in Ayurveda for the treatment of different diseases. Kakubhadi churna is also one among them which is indicated to be used in Dushta Vrana. It comprises of combination of Kakubha, Udumbara, Asvattha, Rodhra, Jambu, and Katphala. Material & Methods: An extensive search was done for published antimicrobial activity research works Kakubha, Udumbara, Asvattha, Rodhra, Jambu, and Katphala in both print and digital media. Observations and Results: Total 12 research articles were found. Out of which two were clinical and rest all were preclinical study. Discussion and conclusion: The provided in- vitro and clinical studies of Kakubha, Udumbara, Asvattha, Rodhra,
Jambu, and Katphala proves its anti-microbial activity. Hence, on the basis of given studies, it can be concluded that Kakubhadi churna exhibits antimicrobial activity against microbes causing non healing ulcer.
