THERMOSENSITIVE IN SITU GEL: A NOVEL APPROACH FOR GLAUCOMA THERAPY

ABSTRACT

The 'in situ gel' system has emerged as one of the best novel drug delivery system; it help for the sustained and controlled release of the drug by its special characteristics feature of "sol to gel" transition. It is used in the treatment of glaucoma which is a progresssive optic neuropathies by degradation of retinal ganglionic cell & resulting in change in nerve head. Opthalmic in situ gelling solution were developed by pH triggeres, temperature triggered and ion activated mechanism using different polymer. The design of the bioavailabitity & to increase the residence time and has to be prepared in order to overcome the problems associated with the conventional opthalmic solution.
