Abstract

PHARMACOGNOSTIC, PHYTOCHEMICAL, ANTI-DIABETIC AND ANTI-HELMINTHIC ACTIVITIES ON WHOLE PLANT OF JUSTICIA PROCUMBENS

ABSTRACT

Justicia procumbens is a perennial plant. It is widely Used in folk medicine as diaphoretic, alterative, Antihelminthic, depurative, anti-diabetic, diuretic. The present study highlights the phytochemical in-vitro Pharmacological studies of various extracts of whole Plant of Justicia procumbens. The phytochemical Screening of the plant extracts shows the presence of various chemical constituents. The methanolic extract shows potent anti-diabetic and antihelminthic activities when compared to other extract. The presence of alkaloid, phenolic compound, flavonoids, protein, saponins, tannins may be responsible for the ant-diabetic and antihelminthic activity.
