A Transdermal Patch is a medicated adhesive pad that is placed on the upper skin to deliver a steady dose of medication through skin into the bloodstream. It delivers the drug by the diffusion process directly through the skin into the bloodstream, at a predetermined and controlled rate. Topical administration of therapeutic agent offers many advantages, such as it is non-invasive route of drug administration, avoid hepatic first pass metabolism, convenient, patient compliance, sustained therapeutic action but its prevalent use is restricted due to better impervious nature of skin.
