Abstract

A CONCEPTUAL REVIEW ON KHATIKA

ABSTRACT

Rasashastra is mainly deals with the preparations of metal and mineral origin. Khatika is one among such mineral substance used in Rasashastra. Khatika comes under Sudha varga dravya. Its detailed description is available in Rasatarangini and Ayurveda prakasha. Bhavaprakasha included Khatika under Uparasa varga. This drug is easily available, cheap and it is having high therapeutic value. It is indicated in Kasa, Haridravarnatisara, Atisweda, Netraroga, Shotha, Vrana, Pravahika and Grahani. Khatika can be compared with Chalk (CaCO3). It is a good source of Calcium carbonate.
