Patil Veena Ajay* and Gaikwad Jayant Jeevan

ABSTRACT

Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha are the Four essential tasks in human life. In which Kama is very important for the reproduction. Everyone has the wish of becoming a parent, but being unable to conceive a child is an exquisitely painful reality. Among couples, in about 20 – 40 % cases male partner is responsible. Male infertility may lead to loss of self-esteem, loss of confidence, depression etc. Male infertility is becoming common problem in urban areas due to lifestyle changes, ill general health, lack of exercise, addiction, impaired marital harmony and other environmental problems. Ayurveda has shown rays of hope in male infertility. Ayurveda realized the problem of male sexual dysfunction thousands of years ago and developed a separate specialty namely, Vajikarana. Ayurveda has explained Shukradushti and Klaibya. Male infertilty can be correlated with these conditions in Ayurveda. Ayurvedic treatment not only helps in the cases of oligozoospermia, terratozoospermia, asthanozoospermia but also in the cases of erectile dysfunction. Hence Ayurvedic therapy is very much useful in male sexual dysfunction as well as male infertility.
