CHEMISTRY RESEARCH FOR SUSTAINANABLE HEALTH AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT

Chemistry has been really helpful to us as we apply it on daily basis in running of our daily activities. The world would not be as it is without the knowledge and understanding of Chemistry which has led and has brought about diverse inventions and innovations. Chemistry being the study and transformation of matter has transformed the world through its various applications in Medicine, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Engineering, Energy, Biology etc. However, Chemistry Research being a tool for sustainable health and national development cannot be over-emphasized especially in most developing countries like Nigeria. In as much as developing Nations like Nigeria is being faced with some challenges especially encountered by Chemists in utilizing new ideas to re-design and create safer products that would improve human health and would be environmental friendly, chemistry research still remains the best means for sustainability in Nigeria which will not only improve human health but pose a significant increase in the nation‘s economy. However Chemists in Nigeria should answer to the call of developing the country through more advanced and targeted chemistry research to solve problems. Therefore, this article presents a brief description of Chemistry and its impact to sustainable health and national development.
