Vd. Supriya Ashokrao Gore*

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate etiological factors (Hetus) of Kushtha in Dadru with special reference to Charak Samhita. Methods: 100 patients with Dadru and a randomly selected control group of 100 people were comprehensively investigated with a self-designed questionnaire. All the data obtained were transformed and analyzed statistically by chi-square test. Result: There is statistical difference between the Dadru patient group and the control group. Among the case group Viruddha aahar, Guruaahar (heavy to digest), Aatapsevan (exposure to sun), Sheetoshna-vyatasat (Alternate cold and hot), Dadhi (curd), Matsya (Fish), Ati lavan (salty food), Divaswap (sleep during day time) etc. was significantly higher than those of the control group (p < 0.05). Drava-aahar (liquid diet), Mulak (raddish), Madhu (honey), Takra (butter milk) Pishtanna (carbohyadrate rich diet) etc hetu were not significant. Conclusion- Our study indicated that, subset of hetus (etiological factors) out of all hetus of Kushtha which are responsible for Dadru has been categorized in this study.
