ABSTRACT

An analytical method for estimation of Metformin and Sitagliptine in bulk and tablet formulation. A rapid, sensitive and specific uv-vis method was developed and validated for the estimation of Metformin and Sitagliptine in tablet dosage form. The method was validated in terms of linearity, accuracy, precision, specificity, limit of detection and limit of quantitation. The optimum conditions for the analysis of the drug were established. The maximum wavelength (λ max) of Metformin and Sitagliptine were found to be 231 nm and 267 nm respectively. The percentage recovery of Metformin and Sitagliptin were 99.4 and 99.78 respectively. Beer’s laws were obeyed in the concentration range of 2-10μg/ml for Metformin and 20-60μg/ml for Sitagliptin. The linear equation for Metformin and Sitagliptin were found to be y = 0.055x - 0.031, r² = 0.990 and y = 0.007x + 0.089, r² = 0.999 respectively. Validation was performed as ICH guidelines for linearity, accuracy, precision, LOD and LOQ. The proposed method was successfully applied for the quantitative determination of Metformin and Sitagliptin in tablet dosage form.
