STANDARDIZATION OF VISHATHIRKU POORA MATHIRAI – A HERBO MINERAL DRUG

ABSTRACT

Vishathirku Poora Mathirai is a Herbomineral drug indicates for the toxic bites which mentioned in Siddha text “Ramadevar Ennum Yakobhu eluthiya Vaithya Sindhamani 700”. The ingredients of Vishathirku Poora Mathirai were Rasam(mercury), Gandhagam(sulphur), Pooram(calomel) and Kuppai meni leaf juice (Acalypha indica). Metal and Mineral Raw drugs were identified and authenticated by the Department of Gunapadam Herbal drugs were authenticated by the Department of Medicinal Botany. All the drugs are purified before preparation as per the literatures. Standardization of the drug done with sophisticated instruments and organoleptic characters also evaluated. Organoleptic characters indicate good quality purification procedure. AAS analysis indicates Heavy metals are not deducted and other minerals are responsible for good pharmacological action. This study concluded the good efficacy of Herbomineral formulation Vishathirku Poora Mathirai.
