CURRENT SCENARIO AND FORTHCOMING APPROACHES OF NATURAL PRODUCTS FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF DIABETES

ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus is a major endocrine disorder and large number of people have diabetes in world. The synthetic medicines are used for the control of diabetes, due to probable of higher side effects, people are diverting towards natural products. Till date various traditionally used medicines has been explored in experimental model and found effective in lowering the blood glucose. Often, neither their mechanism nor their active components have been defined, so it is possible that novel mechanisms of action and novel compounds can be discovered. Considering above aspects the present review delivers the list of natural products having antidiabetic properties, available through literature source from various database with proper categorization according to the parts used and mode of reduction in blood glucose. They may also provide evidence for the development of new and better oral drugs for diabetes mellitus.
