Abstract

A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON SAFE AND EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT OF BIOMEDICAL WASTES WITH SPECIAL FOCUS ON INDIA

ABSTRACT

The present review explains sources, categories and health risks associated with Biomedical Wastes (BMW). Improper BMW disposal causing pathogenic infections and various risks associated are focussed. A summary on general guidelines of BioMedical Waste Management (BMWM) disposal worldwide with special focus on India is intended. Creating awareness towards the biomedical waste handling to both healthcare and non-healthcare professionals and thereby protecting the environment & humans. Finally, a preview on current treatment technologies and latest trends with a future vision on effective BMWM are suggested.
