REVIEW OF THE CONCEPT OF NIDRA IN PROTECTING HEALTH

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is a 5000 years old holistic science focusing on harmonizing the body with nature. Way of living described in it are the stepping stones to salvation. Nidra (sleep) is one among the various concepts mentioned in it. Sleep is having a major role in maintaining physical as well as mental health of a person. Sleep is one among the natural urges. One should follow the instructions mentioned in classics regarding sleep. Neglecting it leads to various lifestyle disorders which affects mind as well as body. There are various factors influence nidra such as food habits and day to day activities. Maintaining the healthy state of mind and body is much essential for attaining the goals of life.
