ABSTRACT
Human growth hormone (hGH) is an important non-glycosylated protein hormone. Normally, blood was used for the screening of human growth hormone in clinics. However, drawing blood is painful. We developed a new method to extract whole DNA and sequence the gene of human growth hormone from human saliva. The growth hormone DNA sequences of 16 samples were determined, and compared with the sequences in GenBank. Our results showed that the gene sequence of growth hormone is conservative among different people, especially the exon parts. Short stature may be caused by low levels of growth hormone in the body. Therefore, biosynthesis of growth hormone and exogenous supplementation are of great significance.
