PREPARATION AND INVITRO EVALUATION OF SUCCINYL CHITOSAN BLENDED METHYL CELLULOSE MICROSPHERES FOR CONTROLLED RELEASE OF 5-FLUOROURACIL
P. Ramakrishna* and K. Harish Babu
ABSTRACT The aim of this study involves in the preparation of microspheres of N-succinyl chitosan (NSCS) and Methyl cellulose (MC) by emulsion cross linking in the presence of glutaraldehyde (GA) as a cross linker. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) an anticancer drug was loaded into microspheres under different ratios of NSCS, MC, % drug loading and amount of GA added. The structure and surface morphology of the microspheres were characterized by FTIR, SEM, and DSC. % Equilibrium swelling was performed in distilled water. In vitro release studies were performed in pH 7.4 buffer solution. Keywords: Succinyl chitosan; Methyl cellulose; controlled release; 5-FU; microspheres. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
