Abstract

EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF TAARA MANDOORA GUDA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO ITS HEPATOPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY – A PRECLINICAL STUDY

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is an oldest system of health care and is momentous in audience of worldwide on virtue of its holistic approach of life. Rasashastra an integral part of Ayurveda, concerned with mineral, metals and herbo mineral preparations. Many such formulations have been described in the classics for health management. Taara mandoora Guda is one such formulation explained in Chakradatta with wide range of therapeutic utility. Liver disorders are the most common and major source of morbidity and mortality in the world. Every year more than 10 lakh liver disorder patients are diagnosed and identified. It is the 10th most common cause of death in India according to WHO. In the present study, the prepared formulation is evaluated for its Hepato protective activity in wistar albino rats against Paracetamol induced hepatotoxicity in 2 different doses. And results were analysed statistically. Taara mandoora Guda showed moderate hepato protective activity in Therapeutic equivalent dose and mild action in double the therapeutic dose group. Taara mandoora Guda is herbomineral formulation, by its unique therapeutic qualities and samskars done during preparation influenced positively on Hepatoprotective action.
