Abstract

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF CARVEDILOL BUCCAL PATCHES: IN VITRO CHARACTERIZATION

ABSTRACT

The present investigation is concered with formulation and evaluation of mucoadhesive buccal patch containing antihypertension drug. Buccal patches for the delivery of carvedilol using combination of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose[HPMC] K15M, ethyl cellulose, propylene glycol, dichloromethane and ethanol in various proportions and combinations were fabricated by solvent casting technique. Variousphysic mechanical parameters like thickness, tensile strength, folding endurance, drug content, moisture content. The values for these were practically acceptable.
