Veszelits Lakticová K., Vargová M. and *Zigo F.

ABSTRACT

The pharmacy has the character of a medical facility in which high demands are placed on compliance with hygienic standards. Regular sanitation and disinfection of the premises are among the most basic activities that contribute to the protection of the health of the patient, pharmacy staff and to ensure the preparation of quality drugs. The disinfectants used must be effective enough to create the safest possible environment and raise the hygiene level of the pharmacy. In the study, we focused on monitoring the hygienic level of various surfaces in different premises of the pharmacy. We evaluated the hygiene of surfaces by the method of microbiological swabs. Microbiological swabs for control of disinfection were taken from area of 10 cm2 during work and after disinfection. The investigated area (10 cm2) was wiped with a wetted cotton swab. The microbiological swabs were put in 10 ml of a physiological solution. Using a pipette, inoculated 0.1 ml of mixture on Meat peptone agar and Endo agar which were cultured in a thermostat at 37 ° C for 24 hours. After incubation, grown colonies were quantified. Incidur® SP which was used in 1% concentration with exposure time 15 minutes was effective on all evaluated surfaces in all monitored premises of pharmacy with exception of tare in section of oficina where were found 5 CFU (colony forming units) of TCB (total count of bacteria) and 1 CFU of coliform bacteria after disinfection. Based on the laboratory results obtained after disinfection in the monitored pharmacy, we can conclude that appropriate choice of disinfectant, correct concentration, exposure time and regular sanitation in premises of pharmacy has importance.
