ABSTRACT
Identification and quantification of phytoconstituents were carried out by using various analytical techniques such as HPTLC, HPLC and AAS. In this study two Indian varieties of Moringa such as Moringa oleifera Lam and Moringa concanensis Nimmo leaves were extracted by using soxhelet extraction with alcohol, hydro alcohol and water. Quercetin was selected as biomarker. The phytochemical screening of the extracts revealed that the hydroalcoholic extract gives the maximum yield. The total flavanoid content was estimated by a colourimetric assay. Quantification of phytoconstituents were carried out using HPTLC and HPLC and the minerals are estimated using Atomic Absorption spectroscopy.
Keywords: Quercetin; HPTLC; HPLC; AAS; Moringa oleifera Lam; Moringa concanensis; Nimmo.
