REVIEW ON AN IDEAL SKIN CARE FORMULATION- THE LOTION

ABSTRACT

Lotion is liquid preparation for external application usually applied without friction. Lotion has higher percentage of water and thinner in consistency. It is easy to spread and quickly absorbed. Among the skin care products available in market, lotion occupies a huge space so, it has much more importance in society. Lotions are suspensions, emulsions or solutions, applied to relief from sign and symptoms of dry skin and to impart skin softening and smoothing. Use of lotions increase in a season of summer and winter due to temperature change, skin becomes dehydrated or dry. So, we use lotions and moisturizers to protect our skin. Don't confused between two terms i.e. lotions and moisturizers, Lotions are similar to moisturizers but both are not same. Lotions are less greasy as compare to moisturizers and having large amount of water. Lotions are used for its cooling, soothing, protective and moisturizing effect and also therapeutic effect depending on ingredients used.
