LITERATURE STUDY OF SARACA ASOCA IN STREE–ROGA

ABSTRACT

„Stree rog and prasuti tantra‟ is very important anga of Ayurveda which deals with the health and disease of women. In modern era, women have to face many stressful situations. So it directly affects her physical and mental health leading to menstrual problems To deal with these problems, Ayurveda plays important role. In Ayurvedic classical texts many drugs are mentioned for different Stree roga. They found remarkable results. For the present study Saraca asoca is selected which is the most commonly used drugs by Ayurvedic practioners. Saraca asoca is one of the most sacred and legendry trees of India. Its medicinal value seems to be recognized first in Agnivesha Charaka Samhita. The importance of Saraca asoca for female genito – urinary problems and especially in menorrhagia was recognized around the ninth century. Saraca asoca is tikta, kashay rasatmak, katu vipaki, sheet virya and kapha-pitta shamak. Also grahi, varnya, asrugdarnashani. So probably, it proves to be useful in different Stree rogas like Raktapradar, Kashtartav, Shwetapradar, Yonirogas. Hence it may be sometimes called as” Stree mitra”.
