ABSTRACT
Churna is the fine powder of herbs. The triphala churna is the one of the classical ayurvedic preparations which helps in digestion, cleans digestive tract, prevent constipation and irritable bowel syndrome, promote weight loss. It is a polyherbal formulation which is prepared by mixing a powdered of terminalia chebulla, terminalia belerica and embellica officinalis in ratio (2.1.1). The aim of present study is to find out anthelmintic activity of triphala churna on pheretimaposthuma (Earth Warms) along with its primary phytochemical and physiochemical evaluation. Powdered triphala churna and its each component were extracted with hydro alcoholic solvent by maceration process. Freshly prepared extract first used for in-vitro anthelmintic
activity of Triphala churna using Albendazole as a standard drug. The time required for the paralysis and death time was recorded. It was found that the activity shown by prepared triphala churna is of considerable and almost equal to the effect shown by standard drug albendazole. The time taken for induction of paralysis and death time in both Albendazole and triphala churna was almost same but the significant difference was observed in case of comparison between albendazole and marketed triphala churna formulation.
Keywords: Anthelmintic activity, Albendazole.
