ABSTRACT
The present investigation was design to perform comparative study of aqueous and methanolic extracts of the Caesalpinia bonducella (L). In this study, the aqueous and methanolic of Caesalpinia bonducella (L) was prepared by Soxhlet extraction method. Extracts showed the presence of alkaloids, amino acids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and Triterpenoids while it showed the absence of glycosides, steroids, fats and oils. The total phenolic content & flavonoid content of aqueous and methanolic extract was performed by using Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and colorimetric method respectively. The total phenolic content in aqueous extract of Caesalpinia bonducella (L) was found to be 124.83 ±1.9553 μg of GAE/mg and in methanolic extract of
Caesalpinia bonducella (L) total phenolic content was found to be 151.76 ±1.0066 μg of GAE/mg. Total flavonoid content in aqueous and methanolic extract of Caesalpinia bonducella (L) was found to be 12.286 ±1.0556 μg of QE/mg and 14.455 ±0.0375 μg of QE/mg. From present investigation it is concluded that the as compare to the aqueous extract, methanolic extract of Caesalpinia bonducella (L) shows greater amount total flavonoid & total phenolic content.
