Abstract

A REVIEW ON: HOW CBT IMPROVES QUALITY OF LIFE OF CANCER PATIENT

ABSTRACT

Cancer is the one of the deadliest disease in India and all over the world. According to WHO cancer is the second leading cause of death globally. And responsible for 9.6 million deaths in 2018. There are different types of cancer and they have different type of treatments options such as surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and hormonal therapy. This whole process of treatment results into the mental illness of the cancer patients it includes depression, pain insomnia, anxiety, fatigue and feeling of helplessness .This type of mental illness affects the physical condition and quality of life of a cancer patient and sometime it also affects the treatment of cancer by affecting the response of body towards drugs given. To overcome this problem CBT is given to the patients to overcome from their mental problems and it gives a positive impact on the quality of life of a patient. This article will describe us about the CBT, cancer, and mental illness in cancer, barriers of implementation of CBT and how CBT is performed.
