Dinesh K. S.*, Santhi Krishna, Swapna Chitra, George M. J. and Anita Patel
ABSTRACT The Human Gut Microbiome has recently emerged as a crucial indicator in determining the health and disease of individuals. It has been widely discussed and traced as far especially in diseases like Autism Spectrum Disorders. Ayurveda with its reasonable and extensive approach in managing Autism has also given prime importance in specific adaptability and functioning of gastro intestinal tract. In this concern, the concept of microbiome and Agni naturally exhibits similarities in terms of gastro intestinal function. The same has been validated through the before and after changes observed during the Ayurveda gut therapy protocol of Human Gut Microbiome through 16S rRNA sequencing. Thus from the Microbiological point of view, the human gut microbiome is capable of providing key answers to the patho-physiology of many diseases. Even from the epistemological point of view, the Ayurveda concept of Agni is also capable of explaining health and disease in terms of gut microbiome diversity.
