ABSTRACT
Ayurvedic formulation is very well known for their benefits and less side effects. Oiling hair is a habit that is core to the Indian culture. Ayurvedic physicians have formulated single as well as compound drugs for the cure and prevention of darunak. Darunak is a Vata –Kaphaj Vyadhi. Sushruta mentioned it under Kshudra roga. Aggravation of Kapha and Vata in Darunak causes, itching, falling of hair, loss of sensation, dryness and small cracks of the skin of the scalp. A person‟s hair is the first most noticeable part of his/her personality. Everyone wants to care their hair and scalp. In present time people are aware towards their hair health. chakradatt as a medicinal oil in treatment ofdarunak(dandruff). Maltyadi tail having following ingredients, Jaati (Jasminum officinale(Linn.)), Karveer (Nerium Odorum Soland), Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica Linn.), Karanj(Pongamia pinnata (L)Pierre) and. Tila oil (Sesame oil) is used as base oil in the preparation of Maltyadi Tail. It is mostly the total effect of all the ingredients in the formula rather than the action of individual drug that plays a vital role in therapeutics. Jaati, karveer, chitrak and karanj have different properties such as antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and much others. This study deal with properties of all ingredients of Maltyadi Tail.
