ABSTRACT

Pain is a distress feeling often caused by intense or damaging stimuli. It seriously affects the person’s daily activities and quality of life, sometimes it may also have impact on social and family environment. Modern medical drugs offer symptomatic relief, but chronic use of modern drugs is associated with serious adverse effects. Ayurveda provides safe, holistic and dependable treatments for most ailments that are common in 21st century. Agnikarma [Thermal cauterization] is an unique treatment modality described in Ayurveda for the management of different diseases and for quick relief of pain. Agnikarma is a thermal, minimally invasive para-surgical procedure for any kind of pain. This involves creation of controlled, pointed, therapeutic burns over the most tender part of the painful region.
