Abstract

REVIEW ON PHYTOCHEMICAL IMPORTANCE OF TRITICUM AESTIVUM, ORYZA SATIVA, ZEA MAYS, AVENA FETUA

ABSTRACT

For energy detoxification or chronic health challenges, there’s nothing that can compare to quaffing one or two glasses of cereals grass juice daily. Wheat grass juice is the juice extracted from the pulp of wheat grass and has been used as a general purpose health tonic for several year. Shoot of Triticum aestivum Linn. Belonging to family gramine. The objective of review article is to explore Pharmacognostic study, phytochemical profile, health benefit, nutritional information and contraindication of wheat grass. The plant has been rich in metabolites are proteins, carbohydrates, carotenoids and triterpenoides. Rice (Oryza sativa) may also inhibit antioxidant activity. We therefore examined the antioxidant activity of juices squeezed from grasses harvested of the jointing stage of the seven coloured and seven white rice cultivars. Barley grass is rich in functional ingredients, such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), flavonoids, K, Ca, chlorophyll, vitamins (A, B1, C, and E), polysaccharide and polyphenols. Barley grass promotes sleep; has antidiabetic effect; regulates blood pressure; enhances immunity; protects liver; has detoxifying and antidepressant effects; improves gastrointestinal function; anti-inflammatory, antioxidant effects; constipation; alleviates atopic as a calcium supplement; and so on.
