GC-MS ANALYSIS OF METHANOL EXTRACT OF DECALEPIS HAMILTONII ROOT (WIGHT & ARN)
Devi Manickam*, Dr. Latha Periyasamy
ABSTRACT The aim of the current study was to characterize the chemical constituent of Decalepis hamiltonii using GC-MS method. GC-MS analysis of methanolic extract of root of Decalepis hamiltonii revealed the presence of 6 bioactive compounds namely 3,7-dimethyl – Undecane, 3-ethyl-5-(2-ethylbutyl)-Octadecane, 2-hydroxy-4- methoxy-benzaldehyde, Glycodeoxycholic acid, 3-acetoxy-7,8- Epoxylanostan-11-ol and Chlortetracycline. The major constituent was 2-hydroxy-4-methoxy- benzaldehyde with RT 9.52 has peak area of 91.29. The results revealed that methanolic extract of Decalepis hamiltonii possesses a broad spectrum of many medicinal properties. Keywords: GC-MS analysis, Asclepediaceae, Decalepis hamiltonii, methanol extract. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
