ABSTRACT
Anemia is the most common blood condition where blood lacks enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry adequate oxygen to the tissues. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are two billion people with anemia in the world and half of the anemia is due to iron deficiency. The goal of this clinical trial is to provide the current first line of therapy for patients with iron deficiency anemia which is oral iron supplementation. Oral supplementation is safe, effective and cheap at correcting iron deficiency anemia. Thirty patients presenting with symptoms of Iron deficiency anemia were randomly selected from OPD of V.Y.D.S
Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Khurja. Patients were divided in two groups of 15 patients each. The patients were administered with 60mg of Lauha Bhasma twice a day and 60mg of Mandur Bhasm twice a day in group I and Group II respectively. The results were evaluated on both subjective and objective criteria’s. All subjective criteria’s like palpitation, fatigue, breathlessness, weakness and pallor shows significant improvement with p varying from less than .001 to .05. Highly Significant improvement (p<0.001) was observed in Hb% of both the groups. Due to various properties of calyx form of drug the Lauha Bhasma and Mandur Bhasm readily absorbed, assimilated & spread quickly in blood and provides maximum bio-availability of iron. Lauh bhasm and Mandur bhasm works as Anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, mild-laxative, it helps in reducing the free radical production and inflammations from the cells which help in enhance cell survival thereby improving the condition of anemia.
