Abstract

CATHARANTHUS ROSEUS A POTENT HERBAL ANTICANCER DRUG

ABSTRACT

Cancer, also named malignancy, is an irregular growth and proliferation of cells. There are further more than 100 types of cancer exist in modern time including breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer lymphoma, etc. Cancer Symptoms vary dependent on the type. Cancer treatment commonly includes chemotherapy, radiation or surgery. There are constant demands for new managements to treat and stop these life-threatening syndromes. Scientific and research attention is drawing its consideration to naturally-derived compounds as they are considered to have less toxic side effects compared to current treatments such as chemotherapy. Vinca commonly known as Catharanthus roseus are subshrubs or herbaceous plants, which known to traditionally utilized for anticancer herbal products. Vinca alkaloids have used as chemotherapeutic mediators for over three decades. The vinca alkaloids are also important for being Anti–cancer agents. There are four main vinca alkaloids in scientific technique for anticancer use vinblastine, vinorelbine, vincristine, and vindesine. The inclusive and comprehensive literature on Vinca plant carried out its anticancer effect using different records, such as Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct and reliable online database.
