REVIEW ON FLOATING DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

ABSTRACT
The main purpose of writing this Review article on Floating Drug Delivery System (FDDS) was to compile the recent literature with special focus on the mechanism of floatation to achieve gastric retention. Incorporation of the drug in a controlled release gastro retentive dosage form (CR-GRDF) which can remain in the gastric region for several hours. Would significantly prolong gastric residence time of Drug and improve Bioavailability, reduce drug waste. Newer Approaches are currently utilized in prolongation of the GRT, including Swelling and Expanding system, Bioadhesive system, High density system, Modified shape and other delayed gastric emptying
devices. Classfication also covered in detail. This article also summarize evaluate the performance, Advanatages and Disadvantages. In This Review also covered information about Future Prospect.
