Abstract

ROLE OF INSULIN-LIKE GROWTH FACTOR-I (IGF-1) AND SOME BIOCHEMICAL PARAMETERS IN TYPE II DIABETES

Sabri Ali Sultan* and Dr. Firas Shawki Abdulrazzak

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the concentration of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-1) and some biochemical parameters in patients type II diabetes, which included measuring glucose concentration, activity of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), HDL-c, LDL-c, VLDL-c, Risk Factor (A F) and Body Mass Index (BMI). The study included (60) samples (male and female) of serum for people with type II diabetes whose age ranged between (20 - 50) years, who are taking metformin and daonil tablets and non-smokers as a group of patients and (30) samples (male and female) from the healthy) control) group. The results showed a significant difference in the level of glucose and no significant difference for the insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-1) and a significant increase in the level of lactate dehydrogenase in the patients group compared to control group at the level of probability (P≤0.05), the results also showed a high significant differences in total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-c and risk factor (AF),were no significant differences in HDL-c and VLDL-c levels between the two groups under study. Patients also were divided by age, body mass index (BMI), infection period and sex.

Keywords: DM2, IGF-1, LDH.
