FORMULATION, DEVELOPMENT & EVALUATION OF PREPARED OINTMENT FOR ANTIMICROBIAL & LAXATIVE ACTIVITIES

ABSTRACT

This research work aimed to development of formulation containing herbal ingredients in ointment dosage form for use in the cases of piles & evaluation of prepared herbal ointment for antimicrobial & laxative activities. This prepared ointment contains Brimstone, Camphor, Coconut oil, Chloramphenicol which are effective in the treatments of all types of piles. For the preparation of this ointment all ingredients are obtained from the natural sources. The prepared ointment then evaluated for their Antimicrobial & Laxative Activities. The formulation F1, F2 has excellent Antibacterial activity S.aureus, the formulation F2, F3 have shown Antibacterial activity B.subtilis, while F3 show Antibacterial activity against E.coil, when compared with standard Levofloxacin. The formulation F1, F4, F5 has excellent Antibacterial activity A.niger, the formulation F2, F3, F5 have shown Antibacterial activity C. albicans, when compared with standard Amphotericin-B.
