ABSTRACT
Wounds are recognized as physical injuries that result in an opening or breaking of the skin. Proper healing of wounds is essential for the restoration of disrupted anatomical continuity and disturbed functional status of the skin. Wound healing is a complex multifactorial process that results in the contraction and closure of the wound and restoration of a functional barrier. Various risk factors during healing of wound such as microbial infection, oxidation and inflammatory which cause delay in healing have brought attention to use natural plants which have wound healing effects to promote this process. This review paper highlights antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti–inflammatory effects of some natural plants on healing of various types of wounds.
